KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — KCC Development Sdn Bhd has appointed Impiana Hotels and Resort Management as the manager of its upcoming Impiana-KCC Hotel Senai in Johor.
KCC Group of Companies Executive Director Ker Soon Yong said the four-star city hotel, with an estimated gross development value of RM50 million, is expected to be completed by year-end.
“The hotel construction, which began two months ago, is currently 10 per cent complete. Contractors are now moving at a feverish pace to complete the project by November,” he told reporters after the signing of a management agreement between KCC and Impiana here today.
Impiana General Manager Stephan Gnagi said the hotel, which is eight minutes away from the Senai International Airport, made it an excellent location for tourists and a very good return on investments for Impiana.
In addition to Impiana-KCC Hotel Senai, Impiana has also signed an agreement to manage a 832-room hotel resort, in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, in 2018, which would be the largest hotel to be managed under the Impiana portfolio.
This resort, likely to be named Impiana Splash Port Dickson, is being developed by Tanco Holdings Bhd.
Apart from these, Impiana was also expanding two of its resorts in Phuket and Koh Samui, Thailand.
In Phuket, the owner of Impiana Resort Patong was looking at acquiring an adjacent piece of land with the view of extending the number of rooms to 200, from its current 68, by 2017.
Meanwhile, the land and refurbishment of the existing Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi, Koh Samui, was expected to cost an estimated US$20 million.
