GEORGE TOWN, Feb 18 — Four out of 15 applications for the planning approval plans submitted by JKP Sdn Bhd and Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) have been approved by the DAP-led state government.

Penang Federal Action Council (MTPNPP) chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said the applications were approved at the State Planning Committee level and MTPNPP was currently awaiting for approval from the One Stop Centre.

“If it is approved, we will receive new hopes this year by continuing to build affordable housing, medium and low-cost housing projects which have been postponed for a long time,” he told a news conference after chairing MTPNPP meeting here Thursday.

PERDA and JKP Sdn Bhd had submitted 15 applications for the development of 9,444 units of houses, but it was not approved by the state government as the plan did not comply with the requirement.

On another development, Zainal Abidin, who is also UMNO Liaison Committee chairman, said the federal government had allocated RM816 million for Penang under the first Rolling Plan of the 11th Malaysia Plan to implement 152 programmes and projects for this year.
