Asia’s biggest obstacle course event, ‘Sunway Iskandar Viper Challenge @ Medini’, today kicked-off at Nature’s Capital City with Sunway Property introducing Sunway Iskandar as the Presenting Sponsor for the first Viper Challenge chapter in the region. Some 8,500 people from all ages including newbies and fitness enthusiasts took part in the outdoor obstacle based challenge comprising of a 20km path with 20 obstacles designed to test the participants’ physical endurance and teamwork to run, jump, slide, climb and crawl towards the finishing line.
Holding true to Sunway Property campaign creed, ‘Living Sunway, Living Community’, the ‘Sunway Iskandar Viper Challenge @ Medini’ is an effort by the Master Community Developer to nurture a vivacious community within its township in Medini, Johor region whilst promoting healthy lifestyles for the communities. Sunway Iskandar CEO Gerard Soosay said, “We are proud to host the first Southern Viper Challenge within our township in Iskandar as well as encouraging the community here to live a healthy lifestyle.
As a Master Community Developer, our dedication lies in our continuous effort in exploring innovative and meaningful ways for us to better engage the community.” Commonly held within the Klang Valley and its outskirts, the event is the first Viper Challenge to be organised in Johor. Coupled with Sunway Iskandar’s features comprising of natural and unique terrains with around 700 acres of natural elements such as Emerald Lake, Pendas River, the Straits of Johor as well as opulent greenery and forest, the location is an ideal fit to hold such an event.

The race was flagged off at 8.40am by YBhg. Dr. Badrul Hisham bin Kassim, Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council YDP, Mr. Gerard Soosay, Sunway Iskandar CEO, and Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Bin Ahmad,Medini Iskandar Malaysia MD/CEO where participants endured the race through the muddiest and most physically challenging obstacle course of their lifetime to cross the finish line as a team or an individual.
Tee Jie Xiang, one of the participants shared, “It was a great race. The environment here in Sunway Iskandar with a variety of natural elements accommodates exactly what Viper Challenge has to offer to the fitness junkies like us – to be one with the nature and push the physical limit to strengthen our minds. More than anything, it is fun!” Soosay expressed his gratitude, “We are very excited to be collaborating with Viper Challenge and we are very pleased with the response given by the community.”
